Harvests have been devastated, jeopardizing food security.
Never in living memory has such a level of water been seen in the Bessada region in southern Chad, where Morija operates as part of its Resilience project.
This project aims to help local farmers cope with climate change and adapt crops accordingly.
As a reminder, this region of the planet is one of the most affected by climate change. According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), a benchmark body for climate change, Chad is expected to experience an increase in precipitation of more than 27% by 2100, for a global warming scenario of 2 degrees. And over 40% more precipitation for a 3 degree global warming scenario.
