In partnership with the Asaren Association, Morija supports professional training workshops in Burkina Faso.
“In three years, professional training allows a student to master the expected skills of a carpenter or metalworker. The majority of students welcomed into the workshops have often left school very early and cannot read or write: they were destined to make a living from low-paying jobs within the informal economy. Not very motivating and with little perspective.” Benjamin GASSE, Director of Morija.
Testimony of Hamado Nikiema, a former apprentice of the professional training workshop:
“My name is Hamado NIKIEMA, and I am 23 years old. I completed my welding training at the professional workshops of Morija and Asaren two years ago.
After the training, I worked in several workshops in the vicinity, with the aim of gaining professional experience. The work rhythms and productivity are not the same, and one has to adapt. Currently, I am in a company not far from the workshops and my village.
In this company, we are 5 employees, but I am the only one who has undergone professional training in a center. According to the boss, my level is better than that of others because my knowledge is broader. He says that I am above them. That’s why he doesn’t hesitate to trust me with specific tasks to execute.
I felt recognized and valued for the skills I can put forward. The next step for me is to set up my own workshop to establish myself there. These two years in different companies have allowed me to acquire the necessary experience in managing a micro-enterprise and personnel, and I believe I am capable of launching now. I just lack the means to implement my project.
I know I can rely on God’s grace to have what it takes for the pursuit of my dream. I will never forget Morija, Asaren, Paam Laafi, my trainers, for this opportunity that was given to me to rid myself of the feeling of failure and become useful. A big THANK YOU!!!”
