Displacement of populations in the Sahel: Morija emergency aid

In the north of Burkina Faso, in the region of the three borders with Mali and Niger, an unprecedented crisis is currently taking place. The ebb of state power, climate change, crime, limited resources and food make this region a place of insecurity and fertile ground for jihadist terrorists.

Burkina Faso concentrates nearly 64% of the displaced persons in the region, which makes it the country most affected by this phenomenon. 90% of these people are internally displaced and 10% are refugees from a neighboring country. (source IOM)

These figures are alarming and reflect serious human distress, the displaced often have to leave their homes in a hurry to flee the violence and lose everything: housing, land, clothes, savings, food …
