2022: increase in refugees in the Sahel

After several events at the end of 2021, terrorist violence in the Sahel region is unfortunately on the increase. On January 4, at least three civilians were injured in an improvised device (IED) explosion in Seno province (Sahel region).
It is estimated that more than 1.5 million people have had to flee their homes as a result of the terrorist violence.
The scale of this unprecedented crisis endangers more than 3.5 million Burkinabè.
2.6 million of them could be severely food insecure this new year.
In addition, because of the violence, 3,280 schools are closed in Burkina Faso, or 13% of the total educational structures. Half a million students are impacted!
These figures are alarming!
For comparison, Switzerland had 965,937 students enrolled in 2020 across the country, including half a million in primary.
Today, families who had to flee terrorism survive thanks to the help of the local population and the solidarity of NGOs.
Morija distributes basic foodstuffs in areas with a high density of refugee populations. We need you to face this challenge which weakens populations already in need.
It is thanks to the generosity of our donors that we can help them:
