In recent years, the gap among the different communities on the planet has been constantly increasing: on the one hand there are those who suffer from hunger, and on the other hand those who waste tons of food. These food losses, estimated at 17%, cause 8 to 10% of greenhouse gas emissions in the world.
This day is therefore a reminder of the importance of mobilizing against waste, for the world of today and tomorrow. It is a message addressed to all citizens but also to companies and the public sector in order to standardize actions against waste.
You can participate in the fight against food loss by consulting the communication from the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), which leads this international day and presents the various possible actions.
