International Day of Human Solidarity

The principle of human solidarity is explained by the solidarity between all the actors of the planet, with the aim of maintaining peace and international security. It is a constant goal. A report by the World Inequality Database reveals that inequalities between rich and poor countries have diminished over the past two decades, but remain particularly high. At the individual level, on the other hand, the inequalities between the rich and the poorest populations are widening.

In 2022, the poorest half of the planet owns only 2% of the world’s wealth while the richest half owns 98% of all the world’s wealth. (World Inequality Report 2022)

Sub-Saharan Africa, where Morija operates, remains the poorest region on the planet. Inequalities in this region are flagrant, 50% of the poorest in this region earn on average 31 times less than the 10% of the richest. In Europe, this ratio is 10.

At Morija, we advocate solidarity and mutual aid, values deeply rooted in our DNA. We allow the most privileged to redistribute their wealth effectively, in order to help the poorest on the planet, located in sub-Saharan Africa.

This is the whole meaning of our action: human solidarity.

On this day of human solidarity, we feel more than concerned and encourage you to work to reduce inequalities at your level for a safer world, where solidarity would be a value much more respected and applied by all economic actors.
