Education Month

For this first month of the year, we want to highlight our Education projects that allow us to provide quality education to hundreds of students each year in our Rainbow Schools located in remote areas of Burkina Faso and Chad.

Our goal this month is to provide 500 African students with one meal a day for a year.

  • Cost of one meal per day for one year for an African child: only CHF 30.00
Our fundraising goal for January: CHF 15’000.00

FOR THE PRICE OF ONE MEAL IN SWITZERLAND, YOU FINANCE MORE THAN 150 MEALS!

A disastrous situation for education in sub-Saharan Africa:

Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest rates of educational exclusion of any region. More than one-fifth of children aged about 6 to 11 are not in school, followed by one-third of children aged about 12 to 14. Nearly 60% of young people aged about 15 to 17 are not in school. (Source UNESCO)

This is why we need your help this January. Thanks to your donations, we can build and improve schools located in remote areas to give a chance to hundreds of children to study in good conditions.

Arc-en-Ciel schools

The schools supported by Morija and labeled Arc-en-Ciel are equipped with the necessary infrastructure for a healthy school environment that is favorable to learning for children.

In its Arc-en-Ciel schools, Morija builds and develops the following infrastructures

  • School canteens
  • Market gardens
  • School equipment
  • School furniture
  • Latrines
  • Boreholes
  • Training of teachers
  • Electrification of the school with solar panels
  • Buildings with classrooms

In Switzerland, these infrastructures are the norm, and we no longer think about them when we send our children to school. In the Sahel, the parents of students get together to try to provide their children with a school education, but due to a lack of financial means, they are unable to provide sufficient school conditions.

This is where Morija intervenes by auditing the infrastructure and the will already present and by developing a project to build and improve the school.
