International Women’s Day

On this International Women’s Day, we want to tell you the story of Poguilga, a 19-year-old young Burkinabè, operated in our Center (MSC) who treats people with disabilities in Burkina Faso, in the city of Kaya. Supported and managed by Morija, the MSC is one of the largest orthopedic surgery centers in Burkina Faso

Suffering from birth disability in both legs, Poguilga could not walk properly.

“Before the surgery, I had tremendous difficulty walking and if I had to climb a slope, I had to crawl. I was not considered a normal person and I had no friends. »

People with disabilities are often rejected by society and ostracized because of local occult beliefs. As women with disabilities, it is all the more difficult for them to survive, rejected by their families, without an income or a husband to support them.

Referred to a public hospital in Kaya, Poguilga could not afford to finance the operation of her two legs. Distraught, she knew her disability could be cured and change her life.

Eventually, she discovered MSC Morija. After a consultation, the MSC of Morija decided to finance Poguilga’s operations against a symbolic contribution from him.

Morija’s intervention was unexpected. I received it as the greatest gift of my life and I am very grateful. Thanks to Morija, I am sure that I will be able to walk normally in the very near future. »

The operations which allowed the straightening of his shins and his feet were a success.

Poguilga is in rehabilitation in the physiotherapy department of the CMC, and her life is transformed thanks to all the people of good will, who have contributed to supporting the CMC of Morija and its Health projects.

It is thanks to your donations and your generosity that we can change the lives of women like Poguilga and have a huge impact on their daily lives thanks to our actions in favor of people with disabilities in Burkina Faso.
