International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

Every year, on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty on October 17, the figures for poverty in the world are exposed.

The number of extremely poor people is increasing in sub-Saharan Africa, while it has been declining in other regions of the world for 30 years.

736 million people live below the poverty line: they live on less than $1.90 a day.
The majority of people living below the poverty line are spread across two regions of the planet: South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
High poverty rates are most often found in small, fragile countries affected by armed conflict, such as Burkina Faso for example.

Many private and institutional actors are fighting against poverty. There remains a glimmer of hope and lives are repaired every day. We can take concrete action and reduce poverty.

What to do ?

In Morija, our teams on the ground need you. They lead the fight against poverty, helping poor populations in all facets of their daily lives:

Access to water, agriculture, nutrition, health, education, humanitarian aid.
It is with an integrated approach that the effectiveness of our actions to combat poverty is most sustainable.
In all these areas, Morija has developed expertise that allows it to be as close as possible to the needs of its beneficiaries.

For this, means are necessary, which come to us through your donations and your involvement.
For example, with CHF 45.-, you allow a displaced family in extreme poverty in Burkina Faso to benefit from 1 month of food.

These food items will be distributed to the displaced by our local teams.

Let’s fight this fight together! Join our donor network now.
