An overview of women’s involvement in our humanitarian programs

At the heart of Morija’s humanitarian projects, women emerge as essential driving forces. In a continent where women are often relegated to disadvantaged statuses socially, economically, and politically, Morija pays special attention to empowering girls and women to foster their key role in society.

Culturally, girls encounter early obstacles in their education due to traditional roles associating them with the home. Morija is committed to changing this reality by supporting 23 educational structures in Chad and Burkina Faso. Through school canteens and the Rainbow Schools program, the organization works to break down barriers to education, with the aim of greater gender equality.

Women play a crucial role in the health and nutrition sectors, where nearly 50% work in health and 80% in nutrition. Morija focuses its efforts on monitoring pregnant women and providing nutritional awareness to mothers, emphasizing the importance of their influence in these vital areas.

Morija also places women at the center of rural development, training over 50,000 women in solidarity savings in 2023. Through the Save for Change (SFC) program, Morija empowers women to start and expand their businesses, thus contributing to local economic growth.
