At the Nutritional Recovery and Education Center (CREN) in Nobéré, every child has a story. Ousseni, 18 months old, is one of them. Admitted for the second time in April 2024, his condition had suddenly worsened despite a consultation in the capital. Upon his arrival at CREN, his weight was alarming: 5.7 kg for 74 cm, indicating severe malnutrition.
Under the attentive supervision of the medical staff, Ousseni received essential nutritional and medical care. Two weeks later, his condition had significantly improved. “He can even play with his twin brother,” says his mother Natou, moved and grateful.
At CREN, stories like Ousseni’s are common. In 2023, 96% of the children taken care of were discharged healed. The center not only treats but also educates parents on good nutritional practices to prevent malnutrition.
