The number of extremely poor people is increasing in sub-Saharan Africa, while it has been declining in other regions of the world for 30 years.
736 million people live below the poverty line: they live on less than $1.90 a day.
The bulk of people living below the poverty line are spread across two regions of the planet: South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
High poverty rates are most often found in small, fragile countries affected by armed conflict, such as Burkina Faso for example.
Many private and institutional actors are involved in the fight against poverty. There is a glimmer of hope and lives are being repaired every day. We can act, concretely, and reduce poverty.
